Beekeeping exhibition taking place in Hertfordshire - By: Ronald Kresten

Beekeeping is an activity that is growing in popularity not only in the UK but also in many other countries around the world. This is perhaps no surprise. After all, those who engage in the activity can enjoy their very own supply of honey and they also get to do their bit for the planet.

Reflecting this rising interest in keeping bees, a museum in Hertfordshire has launched a special exhibition focussing on the endeavour. Ware Museum is running the Beekeeping in Ware & Hertford display, the Hertfordshire Mercury reports. It is set to run until May 12th.

The homage to bees was organised by members of the Hertford & Ware Beekeepers Association and it contains a host of facts and useful tips concerning the hobby. Also, for those with a sweet tooth, there is honey on sale, while special mugs and mouse mats are also up for grabs.

Commenting on the exhibition, group chairman Dr Michael Cook said: "It's all to do with the technicalities of beekeeping. For people that are completely new to it, it tells them how to build hives, how to locate them and where to get training."

Thankfully, there is plenty of information like this available to those keen to get stuck into the activity of keeping bees. For example, it is possible to access many facts over the web and books are also a great resource. Additionally, it is helpful for individuals new to the activity to speak directly to experts as this can be one of the most effective ways of getting useful hints and facts.

For those eager to visit the display, Ware Museum is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between 11am and 4pm, while on Sundays it is open from 2pm to 4pm. The centre was established in 1986 by the local council and in 2001 it benefited from a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.
