One of the best ways to enjoy a beach holiday is by renting holiday villas. They are available across every part of Europe, and range from small budget accommodation, to luxurious sprawling estates. When to go? Unlike the UK, the rest of Europe is pretty much guaranteed to bask in sunshine throughout the summer months. July and August are the peak months and tend to be when temperatures, as well as prices, are at their highest. Southern European countries get particularly hot during these months so air conditioning and swimming pools are a must.

Where to go? For beach holidays, there are few destinations in Europe that can match Spain and Portugal. Any coastal resort on the Iberian Peninsula is a safe option as sunshine will be pretty much guaranteed and the tourist industry is very well established.

Most of Spain is still a good option to enjoy a more traditional beach resort holiday. Aside from the Costa del Sol, which can be quite expensive these days, there are always good quality places to eat and drink which will not stretch your budget. Portugal and the Algarve in particular, is a very popular area to enjoy villa holidays. The Algarve has many miles of beautiful coastline scenery and is less developed than other resort areas. This makes it a great destination for holidaymakers who want to escape a more ‘built-up’ type of beach holiday.

For fun beach holidays, the Canary Islands are a good bet. Located just west of Africa, they get extremely hot in the summer. Each island has its own character and energy, with Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife being the liveliest for night life and bars.
