When choosing a fancy dress costume you can’t go wrong with a character from a popular film of the moment. If you are holding a fancy dress party, or have been invited to one, here is some inspiration for you: There are a whole host of classic films to choose from such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Trek to name but a few. The key to success is to choose a character that people instantly recognise. Action heroes such as Indiana Jones will never fail get an appreciative applause.

Another all time classic is to go as a Blues Brother. As Elwood or Jake, you’ll be guaranteed to have a great time strutting your stuff on the dance floor. This is a great costume if you are shy about being the centre stage. Simply don your sunglasses and hat and you’ll be in character! There are the more bizarre film characters that will really turn heads. How about Robocop? You’re guaranteed to get served first at the bar in this imposing fancy dress costume.

Then there are the great cartoon icons to choose from. You can yabba dabba doo to your heart’s content in a Fred Flintstone outfit or Scooby Dooby Doo in the lovable Scooby Doo outfit. If you want something a little more glamorous opt for Daphne and get someone else to be the cuddly canine sleuth. Then there is the Halloween theme. No matter what time of year in it is; Halloween costumes from the Adams Family and Beetlejuice are always well received.
