A fabulous city famous for its great football team - Barcelona as a city has a lot to offer its visitors and can be an exceptional place for a short vacation with great attractions, and has the favourable Mediterranean climate all the year round.

There are three main airports in the Catalonia area of Spain receiving international flights from all over the world. El Prat is the closest airport to Barcelona, situated 12 km from the city centre.

The amazing thing about Barcelona city breaks as a city is that you do not need to choose between staying in the beach area or staying in the centre and tourist areas. In Barcelona you can do both. An area such as La Rambla in Barcelona is one of the main tourist streets and every day it is lively with street performers, vendors and on the side of the street, cafes and restaurants. La Rambla boasts many hotels and apartment rentals and this can be the ideal area to stay if you really want to be in the middle of where things are happening. Nearby the area of Barri Gotic, it can be a little quieter than La Rambla but it is still sat amongst the central and lively areas. Both Barri Gotic and La Rambla are also perfectly situated so that you can easily walk and reach the marina and the beach within roughly 15 minutes walk (all depending on how fast you can walk of course)

Barcelona's own pedestrian walkway, Las Ramblas is lined with cafes, markets, and quaint shops. On sunny days, artists display their wares and street performers, including the world famous living statues, entertain. An ideal place to people watch and this people watching is free.

One food choice that travelers in Barcelona should experience is the tapas. Tapas are snacks or finger foods and are often accompanied by wine. This is an economical way to try a variety of Spanish tastes without breaking the budget or expanding the waistline.

In Barcelona, one can find all the international designer labels, including Chanel, Mont Blanc, Miro, Gucci, Armani, and Cartier, as well as the city's own exciting designers.
