Bakeware Silicone or Traditional? - By: bakesilicone

If before, aluminum, metal, or glass are what bakeware was made of, now, you will find that silicone has hit the scene. What is this bakeware silicone material that has received so much attention and is it any good, or is traditional bakeware better?

Silicone is not only a rubbery type of material but because of this property, it is proven to be very heat resistant, perfect for baking, as well as it is very easy to clean since it’s dishwasher safe. There are no seams on silicone bakeware or oven gloves and this means that it is impossible for liquid to seep in or to escape as well as you can also find silicone in bright, solid colours.

The primary thing you would observe in bakeware made from silicone is that it is flimsy. As a matter of fact, it is impossible for you to pick up a rectangular silicone baking pan without bending or folding, so does it mean it is impossible to fill up one of these pans with batter or put it in the oven without spilling stiff all over? It seems impossible indeed. In fact, you will find many companies selling a stiff rack to put the silicone pan on as this makes it easier for the pan to be carried.

You might think that if you are going to use a baking sheet just to be able to use a bakeware silicone piece, then it is pointless to buy it altogether, but wait till the baking process is over as it is then that you will see the power of silicone. Silicone heats and bakes very evenly, so you don’t have to worry about having a squishy, raw middle so it’s also incredibly easy to remove your cake from the silicone pan. In fact, there is even no need to grease them in any way even though most people just do so to be sure nothing will stick and so, when the baked goods have cooled already, you can let the loaf fall right out by just pulling the sides of the pan back a bit.

Bakeware silicone products can be used in any temperature so you can take your item out of the oven, serve a casserole out of it, put it and the leftovers in the refrigerator or freezer, and then take them out later, put the entire silicone pan in the microwave, and heat up your leftovers! Then off to the dishwasher your silicone pan will go. Thes pans can be used anywhere for unlike metal pans, they never rust or stain. Silicone has a lot to offer bakers, so give it a try and once you look past the flimsiness, you might find the other benefits too good to pass up.
