Many people consider a 32GB Micro SDHC to be a great way to back up the data on their computer or elsewhere. However the important thing to remember is that just because the information is on your SD card, doesn't mean that it is completely safe. This is particularly the case if you have actually not thought to keep the data on your computer too, and this can be a one way ticket to disaster.

Normally if you are using your SD card then you will be using your 32GB Micro SDHC to use information from your computer on your phone, MP3 player or camera or just to transport it and share it with other people - and this will normally mean that your data is relatively safe – you are unlikely to find that anything happens to both your computer and your SD card.

However that said, it doesn't hurt to have a second form of backup and particularly as you will probably often keep your 32GB Micro SDHC in the same computer a lot of the time. There are many other options of backup for you here and these include keeping your data stored online, keeping your information on another SD card somewhere, printing out some documents or saving it onto a CD, portable hard drive or other storage device.

At the same time though, in some cases you won't have backed your information up on your computer. This could be because the 32GB Micro SDHC was used with your phone or camera rather than your computer. In other words you might download music on your MP3 player, or take lots of photos on your camera and not yet have had the opportunity to back them up on your computer. This then could mean that if you accidentally were to lose or to damage your 32GB Micro SDHC during this time, you would lose all of the data you had stored on it and would have no back up of that to use.

As a 32GB Micro SDHC is really quite small and relatively delicate with particularly vulnerable metal contacts for conducting energy, it is quite easy for them to get damaged or lost so it is important to make backups. Of course you can do this on your PC – by copying the pictures or music over -and if you're on holiday then it makes good sense to take a small laptop or an even more portable netbook so that you can back up your data as you go. Alternatively you can store your files on other devices such as a phone and these days many smart phones come with internal memory of quite a few gigabytes meaning that things like photos and music are easy to copy over. But if you want to be really safe then you can always try emailing your files to yourself so that they are on your mail-client's hosting. You can do this either by putting your 32GB Micro SDHC in your phone and using its connectivity, by putting it in your computer, or by bluetoothing it to a device that does have internet connectivity.
