BMW X1 SUV in India - By: Govindan

BMW, the world’s famous luxury car maker is planning to launch its crossover compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) BMW X1 in India in 2010 December 23rd. This model is similar to the platform of BMW 3 Series All Wheel Drive (AWD) touring. BMW X1 models will be available in both petrol and diesel variants and it will come with an attractive price tag.

BMW X1 History

BMW X1 production was started in 2009. It has the platform of BMW 3 Series especially BMW E90 and the model is assembled in Leipzig, Germany. The petrol version of BMW X1 is equipped with 1.8L engine and BMW X1 diesel version is equipped with 2.0 L diesel engine. BMW is planning to production of BMW X1 in company’s Chennai plant in India.

BMW X1 Specification / Key features / Performance

BMW XI is a All Wheel Drive, that comes with six-cylinder petrol engine, four cylinder petrol engine, four cylinder diesel engine and it has six speed manual transmission. Apart from that it is also equipped with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), auto start stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration, gear shift indicator and so on. BMW X1 will have 1995cc engine with four cylinder sixteen valve that can deliver maximum power of 177 BHP @ 4000 rpm and maximum torque of 350 nm at 1750 RMP.

BMW X 1 Exterior / Interior

BMW X1 exterior is compact and attractive at first glance. It has a thoughtful design. A sloping rear windscreen and a short overhang make the car sporty and it has raising lateral lines that delivers a dynamic shape. Its three-eye look headlights and distinctive bonnet are very much impressive and it has the L-shaped tail lights with the flow of horizontal lines in conjunction make the rear broader. On the whole BMW X1 exterior delivers silhouette and elegance.

BMW X 1 interior has ergonomic design. It has a simple, compact and attractive interior as everything is set in a perfect manner. It has a raised seating position that gives a deliberate overview. The BMW X1 interior is equipped with high-end materials with perfect colors. The workmanship of its interior is unique and outstanding.

BMW X1 Safety

Coming to safety part, its raised seats brings a clear overview even in heavy traffic. It has awesome headroom and an excellent wheelbase. Apart from that it has rear view camera, adaptive headlights, auto-beam, Dynamic Cruise Control. The body of BMW X1 is made up of new generation steel, which is very much sturdy and durable. Apart from that the front and side airbags and activated headrest protect the passengers safely. It is also equipped with other safety features like EBD, Anti-Breaking System (ABS), engine immobilizer, alarm system with remote control, child lock, central lock, side impact production, belt force limiter and so on.

BMW X1 Variants and Price

BMW X1 available variants in India are – BMW X1 corporate edition and BMW X1 Highline. Coming to BMW X1 price, it is expected to be the cheapest BMW cars in india and will cost somewhere around 23 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

BMW X1 Color

The available BMW X1 colors are - Black Sapphire, Cashmere Silver, Cashmere Silver, Graphite Blue, Space Grey, Space Grey, Sparkling Bronze, Titanium Silver, Vermilion Red, Deep Sea Blue and Marrakech Brown.

BMW X1 Mileage

It is expected that BMW X1 may give the mileage between 12 and 14 km/litre in Indian roads.
