Asian Development Bank proposed that districts should use more solar energy to generate electricity if they want to maintain their strong economic development and decrease carbon dioxide emissions.

At the Third Solar Energy Forum today, the vice president of Asian Development Bank Zhao Xiaoyu said that ¡°Many Asian Countries have abundant sunshine and a large area of lands that are granted by the natural advantage of solar energy. However, since large solar electrical energy generation lacks appropriate financing project system. And it is limited by relevant systems and policies with the absence of relevant knowledge. Therefore, in developing countries of Asia, about 0.9 billion people have no electricity to use and some remote areas even pay enormous expenses for those fossil fuels that can generate electricity.¡±

¡°It is estimated that Asia will take up half of global export production trade and investment amount by 2050. To maintain the amazing momentum of growth, Asia must make sure that its energy is safe and it can be innovated. And Asia must follow the road of sustainable development with low carbon and get rid of traditional road of high energy and carbon.¡±

At present, only less than 0.25% of the general electricity production of Asia comes from solar energy. Zhao Xiaoyu said that ¡°This means that solar electrical energy generation has great potential. I hope that it will add 3% or 5% contribution in the near future. And the goal is the electrical cost of Asian solar energy can be equal to or be less than electrical power and diatribution.¡±

Zhao Xiaoyu also showed that ¡°This proposal expands the scale of energy generation and lower the production cost by making use of advanced solar electrical energy generation techniques.¡±

In 2010, Asian Development Bank invested 1.8 billion dollars in clean energy industry, 1 billion dollars more than the goal of three years later. And it will increase 0.2 billon dollars every year from 2013.
