Asia Pacific Region is The New Gold Mine for PV Module Manufacturers - By: HK Chaudury

Body Text: Are PV module manufacturers operating in the Asia Pacific region likely to see huge boosts in their profit margins, 2012 onwards? Well, it certainly seems that way, if a report published NPD Solarbuzz is to be believed. Named Asia Pacific Major PV Markets Report, it states that the steep increase in enthusiasm about solar energy products in the region is likely to push the total installed capacity of such equipment in the AP region as high as 4.8 giga watts! This suggests a steep rise in sales figures, by as much as 40%, in the region.

However, this new prosperity of the solar energy market in Asia Pacific does seem to come at the cost of the markets in EU region. Ever since quite a few countries in the region withdrew tariffs on solar energy products, photovoltaic module manufacturers have been experiencing a slight decline in the enthusiasm of customers towards buying those products. This has, obviously, prompted the manufacturers to seek out the prosperous markets of the AP region, in an effort to take advantage of the tariffs being offered by Governments on purchase of products.

Just how much greener are the Asian markets than those in the EU?

Well, for starters, analysts are already predicting that the markets will grow by around 120% - 130% within the end of 2012. This analysis is based on the prediction that total installed capacity of solar energy equipment in the countries in the region are likely to rise by as much as 2 GW within the present financial year (2011-2012). Also, let's not forget that prices of solar energy equipment in the region are at an all time low at the moment, which is obviously likely to boost consumer interest on the products, resulting in increased profits for solar PV module manufacturers.

Which countries are likely to have the biggest markets of solar energy equipment?

Well, India is certainly going to be the largest one, beyond all doubt. The Indian Government has already undertaken the National Solar Mission, with a target of generating as much as 30% - 35% of electricity used on a regular basis by citizens across the country, from solar energy. The deadline for the mission has been set at 2020. So, it is quite likely that PV solar module manufacturers doing business here would be looking forward to hugely improved profit margins.

The Asia Pacific region is set to be quite a gold mine for PV module manufacturers within a couple years from now. As time progresses, this region is likely to be targeted by more and more such companies, making this the all new hub for businesses related to solar energy.
