Article Writing Requires a Good Article Description.

Article marketing is exactly what it says, marketing your articles. Article writing requires that you take the time to research your subject, and have written what you believe to be an interesting and compelling article. Now it is time to learn how to market that article. It is not enough just to submit your article to article directories. You must now do everything you can to get your article read by as many readers as possible.

In this article I will discuss just one of the simple things you can do to get more readers to your article. You've written a great article, you created a compelling title that contains your main keyword. You also took the time to construct and compose a bio box with your link using anchor text.

Before you submit your article:

This was a time consuming task and you're anxious to submit your article to several article directories, but before you do there is one more very important task to perform. You must now construct and compose an interesting and compelling description of your article. So often because we're in a rush or just want to get it done, we use the first sentence of our article as the description.

Most search engines will only use the first hundred and 60 characters of your description. Writing a good description is essential when article writing and here's why. If you go to a search engine and enter your keyword you'll see search results. There are generally about 10 listings for each search page. They are organized in such a way that allows the person who is conducting the search to scan through them quickly.

By writing a compelling description you can get readers to click on your listing instead of someone else's. This is why it is imperative that you put some thought into writing a good description for each of your articles. You can make your description as long or as short as you like each article directory has its own set of rules for the length of your description.

The description of your article should accomplish two things. In the first hundred and 60 characters you want to include your main keyword and describe what your article is about. As I mentioned before most search engines will only allow 160 characters in your description, however article directories will allow more. So make sure that your first hundred and 60 characters explains your article, then you can add some benefits to reading your article in the remaining characters.

To get a better understanding of this article marketing strategy go to a page of search results and read the descriptions. You will quickly see that some of the descriptions make sense and some of the descriptions are fragmented sentences. Those fragmented sentences are the results of the 160 character limit search engines place on your description.
