Article Marketing Tips for the Uninspired - By: Denise Clarke

Article marketing, sounds kind of scary, huh? Sometimes just thinking about putting a pen to paper, or in most cases … firing up the laptop with a hot beverage for inspiration, gives many people writers block.

Yes, we all realize that writing articles can be a time consuming process. First off, you need to decide on your topic, then, do some research, check on keywords, get it all down on paper, make sure it is optimized and on and on …. All of this before we can even submit it!

Heck, sometimes you can’t even think of a topic you want to write about. This is where recycling comes into play … and I don’t mean putting your newspapers in a bin out by the front door.

A super source for ideas and inspirations are your old blog posts. I am assuming here, that you do have a blog, right? Now, I don’t mean a quick copy and paste job here, but an honest to goodness rewrite. Article directories are not the place to put duplicate content. You want to boost your web traffic and not get your hand slapped by Google or any of the other “Big Boys” out there.

So Guys and Gals, I have created a 6 step approach, called Article Marketing Tips. This works magic on old blog posts and it works every time:

1. Do NOT simply rewrite your blog line by line. It doesn’t fool you, your audience or the Google bots, either. You need to do more than pick out a word and check a thesaurus.

2. Outline the structure for your new article by re-reading your blog post and then make note of the key points. Refrain from doing the old copy and paste ... even if your right click finger gets itchy
.
3. You have your basic structure, now flesh out the article using all the important points that you found in step 2. This is the time to be creative.

4. Make sure that you have optimized and checked out the keyword density … don’t want to skimp on those important items and basically confirm that your text reads like an article and not a stream of thought type of blog.

5. Resist the urge to spin a previous article … it usually reads like a spun article … kind of like someone from a foreign country pushed the button and … what you see is what you get! Plagiarizing your own articles really just undermines what you are trying to accomplish in the first place, which is to drive traffic to your main site by obtaining a prized back link.

6. OK, now a word about synonyms. The whole point in article marketing is to retain valuable keyword density in your new article. If those keywords were important to include in your blog, you probably still want to use them, but you can also check to see if a word with a similar meaning might rank also. This will keep the duplicate content monsters away from your door.

This 6 step has served me well in the past, so the next time you’re stumped for a killer topic to write about just drag out an old blog, read up and make article marketing a bit easier!
