Consider your Objective

Many writers fail to understand their objective in writing an article. Your article marketing promotion will generally have a cascade of objectives, one leading to the other. A. Use of Keywords in Your Article Marketing Promotion

One mistake most people make when writing articles is in using the wrong keywords and poor keyword placement. Good keyword research will establish those keywords with a good balance between supply and demand: supply in terms of other competing pages and demand in terms of how often the keyword is employed by search engine users.

You should also use your main keyword in the first 100 characters of the initial paragraph - including spaces! B. The Title of the Article

The title should be either eye-catching or say exactly what it offers. "How to Make Money" is not eye catching enough for a popular topic with lots of competition. "Make $10,000 a Month from Your Sofa!" is more likely to get a click.

If the topic isn't as dynamic as making lots of money, then simply say what people are looking for. The title of this article states exactly what people using the two keywords are looking for (article marketing promotion" and "article writing service").

C. The Article Content

The body of the article is very important, and should be written in a professional manner with no errors in spelling, punctuation or grammar. The days of 'as long as they understand. . . ' are gone with Google's Panda/Farmer algorithm update. Ezine Articles no longer accepts badly written articles, which is why many now use an article writing service to make sure they get it right.

It should offer genuine information without too much waffling and should be at least 500 words long: directories generally accept 400-500. I don't think you can say much in 400 words - this article is already at 652 and I could easily write twice as much! You should prove your knowledge and abilities so that readers will be more inclined to click on the links in the resource section: too many articles are nothing but short adverts.

The Author's Resource

Use the resource to make an offer of more information. You might offer a free gift on the landing page, but most importantly include a link to that landing page. I generally use one link on text resources and two on HTML: some directories and blog use the text version and others the HTML version.
