Article Marketing Promotion Tips: How To Write An Article - By: Pete Nisbet

Article marketing promotion involves knowing how to write an article to promote a product, service or any other entity being advertised or marketed to the general public online. The term 'online' is used advisedly, because the term 'article marketing' infers that the promotion is an online rather than an offline one.

Before you can learn how to write an article, you must first be able to write. A major reason for the failure of so many article marketing promotions lately has been the inability of the writer to use coherent and grammatical English.

This was accepted until February of this year, when Google introduced its Panda algorithm (that some popularly refer to as the Farmer algorithm) that introduced stricter rules on what Google regarded as being acceptable English grammar, semantics and sentence structure.

Now there is more of a need for articles to be written in correct English rather than in slang, and 'as long as it is understood' no longer applies. Most article directories such as Ezine Articles have become more discerning in what they accept and refuse, and large numbers of authors are now finding their articles refused when prior to February they would have been accepted for publication.

That said, most people have little idea how to plan and put into effect this form of online marketing, so here are a few article marketing promotion tips to help you get started.

1. Preparation

Preparation involves you understanding what you are writing about, and then sketching out the bones of the article. You can then carry out some keyword research to determine the best keywords to use in the title and occasionally in the article. You should sketch out the important introductory paragraph and then the concluding paragraph.

Google will give more emphasis to the content and keywords in your title and these two paragraphs than to any other in your article. Once that has been determined, carry out your keyword research.

2. Keyword Research

You can use the free Google Keyword Tool, developed for use by Adwords users, or any other keyword too, you prefer. There are many paid tools available online and also some other free tools, such as the free 7-day trial offered by Wordtracker and the free SEO Chat and Trillian Discovery tools.

Just Google these to find them, then find the best keywords with as high a demand and as low a supply as possible: you will generally come to a compromise between the two. Select two keywords for each article you write - an A and a B keyword.

3. The Title

Use Keyword A as the first word(s) of the title of your article and end up with keyword B. Thus, in the title of this article, KW A would be 'article marketing promotion' and KW B would be 'how to write an article.'

Don't believe those that say your title must be shocking: either Google won’t list it or people won't read it. Shocking titles are OK for emails when you want the recipient to open the email, but your article will be found only by prospects using sensible keywords to find them. So "Make $1,000 in One Day!" will rarely be listed on Google, while "Article Marketing Promotion Tips" is likely to be.

There is a big difference between emails, blasts and genuine article marketing titles, so take that as one of your more important lessons in 'How to Write an Article': there is a time for exclamatory titles, and times when they are counter-productive.

4. The Article Body

The body of the article should offer genuine information that people using your keyword A or B would likely be seeking. Your keywords are not only to get you high listings, but should also represent the content of your article - just as this one is. These are not just article marketing promotion tips, but are also explaining how to write an article that meets the promise of the title AND has a good chance of being listed on Google for its content.

5. The Final Paragraph

When writing articles, use both keywords in the final paragraph, one near the beginning and one near the end. I have no particular reason for doing this but I generally find I get better results by arranging my keywords this way. Your final paragraph should sum up what you have stated in the article in a coherent way.

You must plan your article in advance and carry out keyword research before putting pen to paper (or more likely finger to keypad), get your title right, and then follow the title promise into the initial paragraph. Follow that through the article, and then sum up as I am doing now.

If you want learn how to write an article with the best chance of being listed high in the Google SERPS, you should take careful note of all the above when writing your own articles (including my keyword density that is just about right ). These article marketing promotion tips will work if you use them correctly - so do it!
