There is no point having a website if nobody ever visits it. Too many folk spend a large amount of time setting up their websites ; they cause it to look pretty with a pleasant header and slap on some content then just relax. These folk then look at their stats and are dazzled when they get little if any traffic. They give up ; there are so many websites out there that have the potential to be great but the owner doesn't have the knowledge to bring folk to their site.

The key to getting people to your internet site is to rank highly ( preferably on the 1st page ) in the search engines such as Google, Yahoo and the new Bing. The way we do this as web designers and internet marketers is search engine optimization also know as SEO. If you understand the fundamentals of SEO then you can bring traffic to your website. The simplest technique to get ranked on the search engines is thru back linking or as we say getting link juice. So how does one get back links?

Well there are several free resources online that you may use to enhance your site ranking. One of the best ways is to use article marketing. Article marketing is just about what I do here you write article and submit them to article directories. The 3 I would recommend are this one, Ezine Articles and Article Base. They are all highly ranked websites and an article on their will add link juice to your internet site. In most instances you write 250 word minimum article and then have a resource box at the bottom which you can use to link back to your internet site. The key is to use the link by making that link the keyword you have chosen to challenge for your site. For example if your site is about chainsaws then the link should be the words chainsaw reviews. This could make your site that touch more relevant when folk type chainsaw reviews in to Google. Bing and Yahoo and so on.

The more articles you write the more resource boxes you have to link back to your website. And the more traffic you may at last get. I would counsel writing at least four articles a week and submit them to these article directories.
