Are generic drugs effective - By: josh mckinley

For people in need of medication, the typical scene is being confused between buying the branded drug indicated on the prescription or the generic alternative which is definitely at a lower price. Many people are worried that given the cheap price of generic medications, the efficacy and safety for human consumption may have been compromised during the manufacture. However, with the strict regulations currently executed on medication creation, all medication are approved safe and effective before being put on the market. Thus, there need not be any worry about consuming generic medication instead of the branded kinds.

People must note that all drugs go through the scrutinizing eyes of the FDA or the Food and Drug Administration. Whether it is a generic drug or a branded drug, if it didn’t get through the standards of the FDA, it’ll never be sold in the market. Through this, all drugs that may be purchased from land-based or internet pharmacies are safe and effective in their own right.

Generic medicine companies have as much liability to the FDA as branded medicines institutions. Through the standards of the FDA, whether the drug is to be sold with a brand name or not, they are the same drug. Everything is the same in the eyes of the FDA and all medications go through the similar level of judgment.

With the extreme scrutiny of the FDA, more and more institutions have their own strict regulations for manufacturing. Rather than present medications which will only unsuccessful according to FDA standards, these institutions make sure that there are measures being followed during the development of the drug. These standards are adhered to as an assurance that all outcomes are effective and safe for human consumption.

One standard being adhered to to ensure that the product is safe is extensive documentation. This is a process wherein everything is recorded, from the reception of the raw ingredients, to the final phases of the processing. This is record is then scrutinized by another individual as some form of double checking. All documents that result out on a process are duly signed as proof. This guarantees that everything may be traced and any form of error will easily be seen and investigated.

Another way is the quality control. This points that all produced medications undergo examination at various stages of the process to see if it is of bad quality. This is made to all aspects of the medication. There’s the physical aspect checking which includes, examination of thickness, weighing and all. Another aspect is chemical. This points that the medicines are checked for components or ingredients.

While all researched medication undergo the said measures, newly designed and thought of drugs also have its own test to undergo. If a company has a new medication idea, a proposal must be created and submitted to the FDA for evaluation. All information on the planned medication must be included in the proposal. After assessment, the FDA will begin investigating the product proposed. A battery of tests will once again be performed prior to finally getting an approval.

As may be seen, all medications in the market undergo a series of examinations to guarantee that they’re safe for human consumption. Thus, generic medications work as much as branded ones.
