Appealing Garden Design Made Simple. - By: Jeffry Rodriquez

How you plan and place plants in your garden is garden designing. It may be nothing more than having a few rows of vegetables, or it could be an elaborate scheme set up by a professional landscaper. Designing a garden can be done in a variety of ways. What kind of design you have will depend on the kind of plants you are growing, the room you have and your personal preferences.

When you are planning your garden, it is best to think about what is referred to as the bones of the garden. This doesn't mean you have bodies buried in your garden -it refers, rather, to the structures that surround the garden. The assortment of these things may be anything from your hedge to the paths going through the garden; actually those items that will add to the overall appearance of the space. When you know about these things beforehand; you will have the necessary information you need to make a suitable decision. If there are already shrubs on your property, for example, these can serve as a natural fence or border for at least part of your garden. Trees, especially evergreens, can serve a similar function. Japanese gardens have a look that's both exotic and yet simple. Including some of these elements in your own garden is something you might want to consider. You can look into traditional plants that are used in Japanese gardens, such as bonsai trees or cherry trees. You can just use some Japanese style ornaments to enhance your garden, or design a traditional Zen rock garden or other type of Japanese garden. A bamboo fountain is one attractive feature that can give your garden a very relaxing atmosphere. Another Japanese garden decoration that can add atmosphere is the stone lantern. These are energy efficient and as well as being decorative during the day can add unique lighting to your garden at night.

Although thought still needs to be given to its design, the herb garden is one of the simplest kinds of gardens you can have. Find an area that gets sunlight for at least six hours a day. Your herbs will need a high quality soil with the right nutrients. Using a container to grow herbs or many other kinds of plants can be easier and also offers flexibility if you want to rearrange them at a later date. Planting an herb garden in geometric shapes gives it an appealing design. Not only will an herb garden be lovely to look at, it can also have a nice scent and gives a consistent supply of herbs for cooking. The more experience you have with gardening, the more natural it will become to create designs that are pleasing to you. Gardening design is not that difficult, but it does require you to come up with a blueprint, just as though you were building a house or other structure. Your plants, as living entities, will need some consideration to their surroundings and their health; so keep this in mind when you are deciding your garden design.
