Paquin has received critical acclaim on her behalf role as Sookie Stackhouse inside HBO series True Blood, for which she won the 2008 Golden World Award for Best Occasional actress – Television Series Drama.

Paquin was born with Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Mary Paquin (née Brophy), a great English teacher and local of Wellington, New Zealand, together with Brian Paquin, a high school graduation physical education teacher. Paquin may be the youngest of three children; she has two more mature siblings: a brother, Toby, a director, born in 1977, and a sibling, Katya, born in 1980, that's the partner of Natural party co-leader Russel Grettle. It's in New Zealand with 1991 that Paquin became an actress by chance. Director Jane Campion was looking for a little girl to play a key role in The Keyboard, set to film within New Zealand, and some sort of newspaper advertisement was run announcing an open audition. Paquin's sister read that ad and went to try out with a friend; Paquin herself tagged coupled because she had nothing advisable do. When Campion met Paquin—whose only acting experience had been as a skunk within a school play—she was very impressed with the nine-year-old's performance of the monologue about Flora's mother, and she was chosen from one of many 5000 candidates.

When The Piano was already released in 1993 it was lauded by critics, won prizes at a number of film festivals, and eventually became a popular movie among a wide audience. Paquin's debut performance in the film earned her a great Academy Award for Preferred Supporting Actress at age eleven, making her the second-youngest Oscar winner in history after Tatum O'Neal. [7] The Piano was made being a small independent movie and wasn't likely to be widely known, and Paquin and her family didn't plan to continue in the acting circles. [6] However, she was invited on the William Morris Agency, and she kept receiving provides for new roles.
