An extreme elevator - By: Ronald Kresten

Throughout the world there are millions of buildings which have an elevator installed. From a domestic passenger lift to a heavy weight goods lift, there are lifts available for every type of premises; most of these lifts however are generally very innocuous and unmemorable. However, there are elevators in buildings which are very distinguished; for instance in Japan, the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation building has the self proclaimed world's tallest elevator. This elevator shaft is approximately 173 metres high and generally has a speed of about 38 miles per hour. Other lifts also have relatively high speeds such as the elevator installed in the TFC 101 Tower in Taiwan. This passenger lift can move up and down at such speeds that mean that the elevator passengers can scale the 382 metres to the top of the building within about 30 seconds.

Often these lifts travel at such fast speeds that in order to ensure that passengers ears are not damaged, the elevator contains a specialised pressure gage. Outdoor observation elevators as seen on the Izumi Garden Tower in Japan are also an extreme form of passenger lift. These lifts are often secured to the outside of a tall building or skyscraper. Often made of glass, the passengers of these lifts are allowed a panoramic view of the city and often these are designed to be environmentally aware and can react to changes in wind and rain levels. The maintenance of such an extreme elevator is crucial in order to ensure the safety of its passengers especially when high speeds and great heights are involved.

Here at Elevation lifts we can help ensure that all elevators in both domestic and business properties are operating at optimum levels of safety and efficiency. With services including maintenance and safety surveys we can ensure that all elevators are working within all stipulated health and safety regulations.
