There are many reasons and causes for the huge obesity crisis, which has taken hold of the western world. Everyone, who is obese and overweight would like to blame everyone and everything, but themselves and their own actions or lack of actions.

The truth is that weight loss is not very complicated and each person, who is currently overweight can lose a lot of weight. There is one essential and crucial fat loss method, that everyone, wanting to lose considerable amount of fat, has to do.

One of the main reasons why the obesity problem is so huge, is because of the lack of activity. When your goal is to lose as much fat as you can, as quickly as you can, then the obvious step is to increase your activity. But because people are very much stuck in their habits and lifestyles, which are very sedentary, then becoming more active is a very hard challenge.

40-50 years ago a lot more people did hard physical labour the whole day and more people lived at the country side and moved around much more than most of us do today. It is suggested that the average farmer during an average day around 40 years ago, burned the same amount of calories than a 15 mile jog. Obviosuly if you have an office job, then it is impossible to burn as many calories.

If you are overweight with a lot of excess pounds, then this is the results of lack of activity and excess calories. If you have a tendency to eat too much and eat unhealthy, low-quality food, then it certainly is impossible to get results. Ideally you should be adopting new habits which make you be more active and consume less calories.

The problem also is that, the people who do exercise on a consistant basis, do not exercise enough or sabbotage themselves by over-eating. When you want to lose 1-3 pounds a week on a consistant basis for a long period of time, then you need to exercise a lot and also intensely. Climbing up a flight of stairs is certainly helpful, but that alone is not enough. When you are not getting the results you where hoping for, then you most likely have not exercised enough.

Are you really as physically active as you can be? I think not. Once you are in the habit of exercising, then it becomes much more easier to keep it going and it requires less and less effort. Your goal should be to start exercing as much as you can and slowly add even more time and intensity. And also keeping a close eye on your nutrition, so you don`t eat too much.

Of course there is a lot more to losing body fat, but being active is the key to progress. Without proper exercise it is really hard and next to impossible to get really good results. And by not exercising or not exercising very much, also means you need to put much more emphasis on proper nutrition and diet to get the same results!
