From the time people started using drapes or curtains, time have flied. There are a lot of innovations now to make the home seem more soothing to the eye. Stainless steel stoves and refrigerators have already penetrated the kitchen. Plasma screen TV is now the thing when it comes to home entertainment. Vertical blinds are the new replacement to those aged drapery curtains that look old and give the house a heavy feeling. Sure, curtains served its purpose before of not letting the sunlight in and keeping you warm during the snow. But, you have to face it curtains are now so last season. There are so many types and fabrics out there and it makes it hard for anyone to choose which one goes with their wallpaper or wall paint color. Unless you have your own interior designer, it will be a difficult task.

There are also those that can add depth and sometimes height to any of the rooms in your house. Wood vertical window blinds are usually chosen by those who want their blinds to merge in with their furniture. If you have a house that has a lot of wooden furniture, you have to have wood blinds. Wood blinds are also very sturdy contrary to the misconception that it can easily be ruined. In fact, wood blinds are remarkable because it can give the feeling that your house is very-earthy and homey. It makes your guests feel cozy when you are having a get together rather than those high-tech ones that seem to look a little stiff.

There are two different kinds of wood blinds: bass and ramin. A lot more people choose the bass wood blinds since it is said to be sturdier although the disadvantage is that it is more costly. However, wouldn't you want to spend extra dollars so that you can have the privacy, warm and cool you need? Even if the ramin is a little cheaper, you can make it look more chic by putting a 2-inch or 3-inch valance at the top of the window. You can actually do this also with the bass wood blind.

In choosing the kind of vertical blinds for your home, always consider what will be suitable for your home and not choose something because it is the new invention in town.
