All About Van Insurance - By: jackauthors

Some companies will use it primarily for transporting goods from A to B, whilst others will kit them out more like a ‘mobile shop’. Work vans are the next evolutionary step from the horses and carts of old; except that vans will normally run far better on petrol or diesel than they will on oats!

However, any van will need insurance and it is vital that your policy offers an appropriate type of cover. Staveley van insurance is just like car insurance and it is normally available in one of three packages;

Third Party Only, Third Party Fire and Theft or Fully Comprehensive.

The price of your policy can vary considerably between these and it is down to you to choose the most suitable cover. Fully Comprehensive will always give you the optimum amount of cover, but it may not be necessary for your vehicle. A brand new van is obviously far more valuable than one you are only planning to use for a year.

Insurance companies will quote you according to your circumstances and the price of your policy will be dependent on a number of different factors –

Premises.
Where will you be parking your vehicle for the night? Will it be locked up at the works yard or left outside your home? If you take the vehicle home at night then insurers will want to know if it will be kept on a private driveway or the side of the road. This will all have a bearing on the price of your cheap van insurance.

Contents.
Depending on the type of business you have, insurers may ask you what type of equipment will be left in your van. Obviously, thieves will take far more interest in a vehicle that is full of expensive power tools than they will in one that is loaded with animal feed!

Age, make and model.
Just like any other vehicle, the cost of van insurance will vary depending on the age, make and model. By knowing these, an insurance company will know the overall value of your van.
Driving Record.
It goes without saying that insurers will base their price around the history of your driving. This would be the same no matter what type of vehicle you were getting a quote for. If you have any points on your licence, then your van insurance may well cost you more.

No Claims Discount.
This can really help to reduce your premium. However, you will find that some insurers will not recognise a ‘no claims’ period if it has been earned through policies with several different companies. This is a little frustrating to say the least! However, it is well worth having a look around as some insurers are now beginning to take this into consideration and are offering their new customers a substantial reduction as a gesture of good will.
