Triathlon is a sport that consists of running, cycling and swimming. It requires the speed, the strength and endurance to keep up. As a sport enthusiast, you always want to keep your body toned before you set yourself into a triathlon race. You must be wondering, why a number of people put themselves into this energy draining sport. What do they get from triathlon?


Health and fitness wise, triathlon consists of the three exercises which are best for ones cardiovascular and musculoskeletal system. Each of these may serve your body the benefits even when done one exercise at a time, let alone, combining these three in a succession. These encompass almost all the muscles in your body. Your blood circulation is improved including the pumping capacity of your heart.


Apart from the fitness, the physical benefits that you reap from these exercises, you also develop discipline. In this sport, you always undergo robust trainings. It means waking up early in the morning and running and swimming long distances. It involves a lot of strength building and it doesnt happen overnight. It also includes maintaining a diet, daring not to eat the foods you always craved and sweating the calories you might have gained. Triathlon requires commitment otherwise; this sport is not for you.


You develop the spirit of sportsmanship. The ones who join triathlon often possess a positive outlook. If you think that those people who joined the triathlon were athletes way before, then you got it all wrong. Many are those who competed for triathlon races who were never athletes. Triathlon is not just a sport. Winning a triathlon race or even just taking part in it does not just involve the physical strength but more on ones psychological and emotional well being. It involves faith in oneself. Finishing the race might seem as intimidating as climbing Mount Everest, but tell you what, there are those who have physical limitations who dared to do so.


Triathlon is a sport that excludes the weak because it is a grueling exercise, involving the consistent use of your upper and lower body muscle. Triathlete are required to possess a body with ultra strength and lasting endurance but above all, it requires a spirit that can go the distance, a spirit that can travel offshore and go the extra mile. Just by mere joining would make one a winner.
