Add or Remove Data Encryption to Sage Payroll

Sage Payroll allows you to choose between faster less bulky backups and fully encrypted data backups, whichever you choose, it's advisable to run the repair and compact routine on a regular basis.
Add or Remove Data Encryption

Note: If you have a multi-company licence, changing the Data Encryption settings affects all companies!

1 From the navigation bar, click Desktop and then from the tasks pane, click Options

2 To add data encryption to your backups, from the Encryption area of the Backup tab, select the Encrypt Database check box. To remove data encryption from your backups, from the Encryption area of the backup tab, clear the Encrypt Database check box. A message appears informing you that the change will take affect next time you access the companies data.

3 To continue, click OK and then save your changes to the Backup properties and return to the Payroll desktop, click OK.

Your changes will be saved and you will be returned to the Payroll desktop.

You have successfully added or removed data encryption. You must now close your Sage Payroll and run the Repair and Compact Database Utility, for further information on this please go to the next tip.

NOTE: When you open Sage Payroll for the first time after changing the data encryption settings, a message will appear advising that Payroll is setting the database encryption. To confirm receipt of this message and open your Sage Payroll, click OK
