Location location location. Living somewhere central not too far from campus with good transport links means you can enjoy yourself with the added bonus of not being late for lectures!

You're in a new city, so do a little research first. Which areas have the best accommodation for students? Check out rents and the amenities in the locality. Are they cheap and student friendly?

Yes you can't wait to strike out on your own and start having fun, but you are going to miss your family at some point. Think about where they can stay when they come to visit. Is there a nice hotel or guest house nearby?

Different students have different priorities. Some might enjoy a shared house while others might prefer the quiet and privacy of a flat. There is no one size fits all approach to accommodation for students. Think about what sort of your person you are and assess your needs and budget.
