A source of inspiration:- Life quotes - By: Lela Hobbs

The English language is a wonderful construct. It can be used to convey simple instruction to a dog or a child (Sit, don't do that, stop!) or it can express love and high emotion such as "what light breaks form yonder window, It must be the moon, Juliet is the sun" The use of words can inspire or can depress, and the greatest proponents in the use are often immortalized by the relatively few word they uttered, but uttered with such perfect timing that history will never forget them.

Such a proponent was Abraham Lincoln when, after the Battle of Gettysburg where compatriots had slaughtered each other with abandon, he could inspire a nation to ultimate unity which would emerge from that most awful conflict with his final words; "That we here resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain- that this nation, Under God, shall have a new birth of freedom- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

Another was Winston Churchill, who could speak with such inspiration that when he said that he could offer nothing but "blood, toil, tears and sweat" to a nation which had just left much of its army and a lot of its equipment after a rout in France and Belgium, highly demoralized and feeling very hangdog rose up to respond to his call that "... I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their dutyˇˇ., we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone"ˇˇ.. " we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender,"

Nelson Mandela inspired such loyalty that he was able to walk out of prison , where he had spent 27 years and with grace and dignity inspire a nation to untie where before everyone was predicting a bloodbath.

These are the great orators and some of their memorable saying and those of many other people are being collected and presented on a lovely web page; Life quotes.

It is highly recommended that you bookmark this page and visit every few days to get another dose of inspiration.

Not all is serious or aimed at being earth shattering but some of these quotes will amuse and others will intrigue. I mean who can deny, at this time of a new year when one is contemplating broken resolutions that "Procrastination is a way of keeping up with yesterday" Or Billy Connolly's wry comment "Marriage is a wonderful invention; but, then again, so is a bicycle repair kit" (Billy Connolly is a Scots comedian who has been married to the same woman since 1989)

Life Quotes is nothing more than that, a place you can drop by every now and then for a quick browse.
