A Snowboarders Check List For The Season - By: Tom Stevens

Winter is approaching extremely fast and once again mountains all over the world will be covered in powder snow. It has been a long and warm summer, but the wait is almost over. Once again can all skiing and snowboard enthusiasts do what they love the most. Due to the fact that I am a keen snowboarder myself I thought I should create a little check list for everyone to make sure they are 100% prepared for what is coming. One of the reasons for doing this is that last year and the year before that I was not prepared and went to the mountain only to find that had I only spent an hour or two preparing, my start to the season would have been so much better.

Below you will find my check list that I use when preparing for the season ahead to make sure I have all the gear I need and that all my gear is in tip top shape.

1. Board – Here there is a bit you can do to prepare for the season ahead. I highly recommend completely overhauling your board and give it a good coating of glider. If you do this you can be sure that not only will your board run better than everyone else, but you are also protecting the board from damage during the season. I usually do it before the season starts and then again somewhere in the middle. You can spend lots of money and buy the best snowboard there is, but it is all a waste if you do not look after it.

2. Bindings – I check over my binding to make sure nothing is loose as occasionally they may loosen a bit during the season.

3. Boots – Make sure they still fit and ensure that the laces are still intact. If they are not, replace the laces as there is nothing more frustrating that laces that do not tighten the snowboard boots properly.

4. Clothing – I always go through my snowboard clothing to check if there is anything that needs to be updated. If there is I simply buy it. It any of my gear is damaged I see if there is any way of me repairing it. I always try and avoid buying new gear if it can be fixed relatively easily.

5. Gloves – Having warm and functional snowboard gloves is always important. If you do not have a pair of these, I strongly suggest you get hold of some. They will keep your hand nice and toasty all day.

6. Luggage – This is something that I in recent years have started to appreciate. Having good snowboard luggage solutions that can fit all your gear makes the whole trip so much more enjoyable. Most brand have these things and it effectively means that you can bring yourself plus all your gear in one bag.
