A Short Travel Guide to Your Exciting Majorca Holidays - By: Allan Michael Taylor

Are you planning your next trip in one of those much talked about Majorca holidays? Then tracing back its roots, down to this modern day, is an essential element in order to get the real historical and cultural experience of this travel.

To begin with, the Mallorca Island lies off the east coast of Spain. It has been regarded as the biggest of the Balearic Islands. The name has been originated from the Latin word, 'insula manor', meaning the 'larger island' because of its coastline of approximately 550km. As a modern city, it has been described to have a great heritage.

According to traces of habitation found from 6000-4000 BC, it has been inhabited ever since the Middle Ages, and has been occupied by conquerors such as the Carthaginians and Romans. The metropolis of Palma is Majorca's capital, and has been considered the heart of the self-governing community of Balearic Islands. The wonderful historical city of Palma is the very reason why many visitors are enticed to visit the island. Palma has protected several of its historic taste through its majestic mansions and the outstanding Gothic cathedral.

Majorca, now a well-known vacation spot around the world, has started to become a tourist destination between the 1950s-1960s when its growth brought about hundreds of apartments, hotels, and shopping centers. While enjoying your own style of Majorca holidays, do not be surprised if you come across several entertainment or political celebrities. Some of these celebrities even own private holiday homes in the island.

Majorca offers numerous attractions that are waiting to be discovered. Take for instance the glorious castles of El Santueri and El Diablo, or the hill called Puig de Galatzo where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the island because of its towering crest.

Besides that, partygoers are sure to be thrilled by the fact that the island has perky entertainment . On the other hand, the exquisite beaches and coastal resorts are just perfect for the island's sunny and warm climate.

So how do you get to Majorca and tour within the island? You can take a trip by plane, by railway, and by ferry. From numerous European cities, flights are available to Palma de Mallorca airport. Fortunately, several of the discount airlines even provide flights every day. Flights are also available from Ibiza and Menorca, but the price is double compared to ferries from these islands. And from the airport, public buses are ready and common to run down to Palma.

A well-developed railway and tramway system connects to various parts of the island. Take note that there are two railways in the island: one can carry you from Palma to Inca, and the other one can take you from Palma to Soller. From many points on the Spanish coast, a traveler can take hold of a ferry to Palma. Then a ferry from Minorca to Alcudia is also readily accessible.

So far, previous tourists from across the globe have concluded about their Majorca holidays: time and money were well spent in a fused experience of the classic history and the modern lifestyle.
