Prepare yourself as you take a glimpse at the five most visited parks in Denver, the Mile High City of Colorado.

Washington Park. Designed by a German landscape architect named Reinhard Schuetze, Washington Park was constructed from 1899 to 1908. To improve the facilities of the park, landscape architects Saco Rienk DeBoer and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. contributed additions to the park including the sophisticated boat house. Washington Park is regarded as the oldest park in Denver constructed with twentieth century brick houses and casually arranged flower beds.

Elitch Gardens Theme Park. Formerly identified as Six Flags Elitch Gardens and initially situated at the West side of Denver, Elitch Gardens Theme Park provides amusement in the form of a roller coaster, a carousel, and a Ferris wheel. Families may also have fun at the wave pools for chilling out during summer. If you are planning to go to Elitch Gardens Theme Park, make sure to book your day-out any day from late April to Halloween—the only period of the year when the park is available to public.

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. Hardcore concertgoers are usually found at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. From the many Denver Colorado recreation centers and sites, Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is widely regarded as the most popular. The Beatles and U2 once held concerts at this park. Holiday makers as well as geology enthusiasts can bring their tents or drive around campgrounds in their recreational vehicles (RV) to explore Red Rocks and surrounding foothills.

Lakeside Amusement Park. Previously called White City, Lakeside Amusement Park remains one of the Denver Colorado parks and recreation sites that welcome family trips. This park was inaugurated in 1908 as an amusement park designed by Architect Richard L. Crowther who was also responsible for the building of park's ticket booths and restoration of the ballroom. Lakeside Amusement Park also features a cyclone coaster, bumper cars, bumper boats, Ferris wheel, and carousel.

Denver Bear Valley Park. Unlike other Denver Colorado parks and recreation sites, Denver Bear Valley Park requires no admission fee. The park was officially opened in 1913 and encompasses more than 14,000 acres of land. From 5am to 11pm, tourists can enjoy a multitude of fun activities such as family picnics, biking, and hiking, in addition to soccer and tennis.
