Rogers Corporation is a Rogers, Connecticut based specialty materials company. Rogers Corporation was founded back in 1832 as a paper mill. Now, Rogers Corporation has sales offices all over the globe including Europe, Asia and North America. It has several divisions which offer a variety of products including flexible cut laminates and high frequency printed circuit board laminates. Other products include electroluminescent lighting.

Peter Rogers founded a paper mill in 1832. It was named the Roger Paper Manufacturing Company. When Peter Rogers died in 1841, his son Henry took over the business. Henry Rogers became known as a paper innovator. He spent the rest of his adult life improving paper making methods. In 1852, he developed a waste paper recycling method which revolutionized the paper industry. Henry Rogers retired in 1890 leaving his son, Knight, and daughter, Gertrude, in charge.

In 1927, the Rogers Paper Manufacturing Company was making sales valued at a million dollars annually. After the death of Knight Rogers, Charles Ray of the Manning Paper Company was brought in. Along with some more new executives, the diversification of the Roger Paper Manufacturing Company got its head start. The company started to create new products, both paper and non paper, as well as acquire new facilities. By the mid 1950s, the Rogers Paper Manufacturing Company also included electronics such as circuits and switches.

It was also around the 1950s where the company started expanding. Newer and newer products were innovated and more and more facilities were acquired or built. Despite the major flood that held the, now called, Rogers Corporation back in 1955, they we’re able to rise up again against all odds. During the 1960, more and more facilities were opened in the United States as well as across the border. The 1960s was also the time when the company’s sales reached around twenty eight million.

By the 1970s and 1980s, the Rogers Corporation have grown at a steady pace. More and more products and facilities were acquired in different states and countries as. Since the data processing industry is on the rise, it was the largest market for the products of Rogers Corporation during that time. The company tied up with more and more business giants and paved the way to greater things.

In 1992, the company started to refocus things, particularly on long-term developments. For organization and focus, the company was divided into several divisions with each one focusing on a certain line of products. In 1998, the company’s net sales reached $216.6 million yearend. It was in 2001 where the Rogers Corporation opted for global representation and expansion. And up until now Rogers Materials can be found everywhere.
