The product is reportedly effective in inducing the shedding of dead skin cells to allow a fresher, clearer skin to emerge.

4. Zeno. This acne treatment comes in the form of a portable, electric device used by getting the tip in contact with the pimple. According to its manufacturers, Zeno induces a heat shock response in Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria responsible for the emergence of acne, and forces it to self-destruct. The device is said to take effect in as short as 24 hours.

5. Salicylic acid. Probably the type of acne solution that has the most number of brand names offered in the market. Acne treatment products that contain salicylic acid act as an exfoliant which prevents dead skin cells from building up and creating a home for skin bacteria. These treatments are also said to be effective in unclogging pores. Salicylic acid-based products can come in the form of creams, gels and even astringents. Some dermatologists have warned that skin products with salicylic acid should be used in moderation since they can cause skin dryness and even skin burning.

Acne skin care products probably number in the thousands. They come in various forms and different packages and are marketed in various trade names. Choosing the appropriate one can be quite confusing, that's why a visit to a dermatologist is the first step you should take in your battle against zits.
