A gaming consoles purpose is mainly to play video games, but you can play movies, music and watch pictures. Thus allowing you to play online video games on your console and also browse the internet.

You will find that there are a few different consoles. The most popular ones are Play Station 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii, each one of them comes with their own kind of remote controller. The console will have a built in hard drive that saves all the games that you need to save, if the hard drive has reached its full capacity you can make backups using the USB (Universal Serial Bus) port connecting a flash drive or external hard drive to the console.

Each gaming consoles have their own specific operating system and processor showing different gaming quality and speed. Every video game that is designed will only work on that specific console depending on the manufacture. There are certain video games that will only work on certain consoles, and some video games will work on all consoles. So if you want to buy games that interest you, you will have to take in consideration which console you will need to play the video game with.
