San Diego is the second largest city in California, and has been named Americas Finest City. San Diego is also home to some of the most famous tourist attractions in the country, such as the San Diego Zoo, the Wild Animal Park, Belmont Amusement Park, Sea World, and LegoLand. San Diego has a temperate, Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and cool wet winters. Most of the year in this attraction-packed city enjoys mild, mostly dry weather, with an average of 264 days of sunshine per year. From May to October, temperatures are an average high of 74 degrees and from November to April, the high temperatures average about 68 degrees.

The beautiful climate of San Diego allows for hundreds of attractions throughout the city that welcome millions of visitors each year for vacation time well-spent. The city has deep canyons, beautiful mesas and parklands scattered throughout it. Downtown San Diego is situated right on San Diego Bay, and the famous Balboa Park is right on a mesa just northeast. Ocean Beach is on the west side of Point Loma, which is one of two peninsulas that separate San Diego Bay from the ocean. Another popular beach for vacationers is Pacific Beach, which lies between the ocean and Mission Bay, which is a man-made aquatic park that visitors flock to for enjoyment.

To the east of the city there are breathtaking mountainous backdrops and landscapes, and beyond those are dryer desert areas which offer visitors a transformation in geography that many find remarkable. Cleveland National Forest is only a 30-minute drive from the downtown area of San Diego. The valleys of the area are home to dozens of important farmlands that are situated east of the city to the north and also to the south. Interestingly enough, San Diego County is home to one of the highest population counts of animal and plant endangered species in the United States.

Visitors to San Diego wont want to miss the impressive Coronado Bridge, which was built higher than most bridges to allow ships to pass underneath it. Many people like to visit the bridge at night, as the entire line of it is lit up and can be seen for miles. San Diego has numerous museums that stake a part of the citys claim to fame. The San Diego Museum of Art, the Museum of Man, and the Museum of Photographic Art are just a few that are located in Balboa Park. The Columbia District downtown houses the historic ship exhibits and the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum, which highlights the USS Midway aircraft carrier. Art has a large influence on the culture of San Diego.

San Diego is home to the San Diego Symphony at Symphony Towers, which performs regularly. There is also the San Diego Opera at Civic Center Plaza, one of the top 10 opera companies in the country. Old Globe Theatre and the La Jolla Playhouse are just a couple more of the famous attractions that tourists visit every year. Cuisine in the city is diverse, with everything from pizza to Mexican and Asian foods being some of the most popular cuisines in San Diego.
