If you are looking for a destination in Colorado where there are so many things to do, you will never go wrong with Denver. Holiday makers will never be bored once they set foot in a place that houses more than 200 parks and recreation centers. Brace yourself as you take a peek at the five most visited parks in Denver, the Mile High City of Colorado.

Washington Park. Designed by a German landscape architect named Reinhard Schuetze, Washington Park was constructed from 1899 to 1908. To improve the amenities of the park, landscape architects Saco Rienk DeBoer and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. designed additions to the park like the classic boat house. Washington Park is regarded as the oldest park in Denver created with twentieth century brick residential structures and casually laid out flower beds.

Elitch Gardens Theme Park. Formerly known as Six Flags Elitch Gardens and originally established at the West side of Denver, Elitch Gardens Theme Park provides amusement in the form of a roller coaster, a carousel, and a Ferris wheel. Families may also enjoy the wave pools for cooling off during summer. If you are planning to take a trip to Elitch Gardens Theme Park, be sure to schedule your day-out any time from late April to Halloween—the only period of the year when the park is available to public.

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. Certified concertgoers are usually found at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre. From the many Denver Colorado recreation centers and sites, Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is widely believed to be the most popular. The Beatles and U2 once staged concerts at this park. Tourists along with geology enthusiasts can bring their tents or drive around camping areas in their recreational vehicles (RV) to explore Red Rocks and surrounding foothills.

Lakeside Amusement Park. Previously named White City, Lakeside Amusement Park remains one of the Denver Colorado parks and recreation sites that welcome family gatherings. This park was inaugurated in 1908 as an amusement resort designed by Architect Richard L. Crowther who was also in charge of the building of park's ticket booths and restoration of the ballroom. Lakeside Amusement Park also offers a cyclone coaster, bumper cars, bumper boats, Ferris wheel, and merry-go-round.

Denver Bear Valley Park. Compared with other Denver Colorado parks and recreation sites, Denver Bear Valley Park requires no admission fee. The park was formally established in 1913 and covers over 14,000 acres of land. From 5am to 11pm, guests can enjoy a multitude of fun activities such as family picnics, biking, and hiking, along with soccer and tennis.
