They say that an average person dreams almost every night. It’s just a matter of remembering what we dream about that makes us more in touch with our sleep state. Dreams have different themes. One of the most popular is flying. There are several ways to analyze dreams of this sort.

Here are the different types of dream and their interpretations/identification.

1. One common type of dream is the daydream. Daydreaming is a level of consciousness between being asleep and being awake. Everyday, a person has a tendency to daydream for about 70-120 minutes. Daydreaming happens when a person is awake and allows oneself to be carried into dreamland by thoughts alone. The person then loses contact with the real world and goes into dreaming.

2. False awakening dream, which is another type of dream, includes instances when one feels like waking up and doing every routine like brushing one’s teeth, washing the face, and heading for work. However, one wakes up again to realize that it was only a dream.

3. The nightmare is a common type of dream of most people. With this dream, a person wakes up feeling anxious and frightened. These may be a response to real life trauma and belong to the special category called Post-traumatic Stress Nightmare (PSN).

4. Recurring dreams are dreams that are repeated a lot of times. The variations are very little but the whole dream is almost the same. Recurring dreams usually happen as a result of a conflict that has not been resolved. Until the solution is found, these dreams will continue to recur.

5. Healing dreams are those that have a connection to a person’s health. This is also called “prodromic” by ancient Greeks. For many, dreams may signal the person that something wrong might happen. For example, the person may suffer from an asthma or heart attack. In short, healing dreams may help a person avoid having health accidents.

6 . Prophetic dreams are another type of dream. This is a way of foretelling the future. It is believed that the subconscious mind has a way of putting bits and pieces of information that are normally overlooked by a person when awake. This means that information has already been processed even before it is received by the human mind.

Dream interpretation should then be specified to your particular dreams in relation to actual events that happen to you. However, there are dream themes that are common to a lot of people. A dream dictionary can help you interpret dreams scenes based on theme.
