Get a good quality door mat that catches most of the dirt and grime you tread in from outside. You may want to get a stylish runner too, to help prevent your hall from becoming filled with dirt and dust the whole time.

Watch out for scratches and similar damage, and get it repaired straightaway to prevent further damage.

No matter how careful you are, you can end up with scratches and put gouges in your wood floors occasionally. For example think about what might happen if you accidentally drop something heavy on your hardwood floor.
