5 Easy Ways To Build A Customer List - By: Kevin Thoroughgood

Whatever you sell or promote, building a strong responsive customer list is paramount to the success of your business. Those business owners who have a vast list of customers will tell you what an integral part it plays in their overall marketing whether it’s an online or an offline business.

So what does having a strong responsive customer list represent to the business owner?

1. It represents a higher response rate when marketing to a list that has either bought or enquired previously regarding a similar product that had been promoted. .

2. It allows the business owner to target a specific market without the unnecessary costs of blanket advertising.

Building and creating an effective, strong and responsive list isn’t as easy as it sounds. It takes a lot of time and effort, however the rewards are plentiful if you are prepared to work at it. The old saying is ‘you reap what you sow’ in other words if you don’t apply the techniques and strategies to create a responsive list your business won’t go anywhere.

Although many business owners realise that building a list of potential customers is essential to the success of their business, the stumbling block comes when ideas on how to create such lists tend to be limited.

There are many different ways to create an effective and responsive list and below I have listed 5 of the easiest ways that can be applied immediately.

5 Effective Customer List Building Tips

1. Create a Newsletter

An excellent way to increase your list and gain subscribers is to create a free weekly or monthly newsletter about your business or product

2. Place an opt-in form on your blog

Another good way to get subscribers is to simply put an opt-in form on your blog. If people like reading your content and find themselves coming back to read more, they may decide to opt-in to your newsletter, too.

3. Create a Facebook fanpage

If you’re a Facebook user, you’ve no doubt seen countless ‘fanpages’ for various businesses.

Virtually all businesses that wish to have a social media presence one. This is a practice you should adopt, too ,if you want to develop a social media presence and use it to generate list subscribers.

In short, setting up a Facebook fanpage is not very different from setting up a profile.

Just remember to incorporate all of the relevnt information about your business on the page, along with links to your list and to various freebies. Also, consider giving people who ‘like’ your fanpage discounts or coupons for various products.

4. Free Ebooks

Often, getting people to join a list is as simple as providing them with the right incentives. If you simply tell people to join the list because the content will be good, they won’t know whether or not to trust you.

However, if you provide them with a free ebook that they get after signing-up they’ll be much more likely to join. Some might in time cancel there subscription, but in reality that can always happen. But your focus must be on exposing them to your main content.

5. Free Reports

This is similar to giving away free ebooks, give away free reports. These are often less expensive to produce and can have a similar effect. I would suggest targeting a specific theme or create a ‘how-to’ report on a topic associated with your business.
