5 Blogging Essentials for Traffic and Cash - By: Jotterbox.com

Here's a short list of what bloggers can apply or add to any blogs to get traffic and a bit of cash:

1. Social Bookmarks
Add social bookmark links on your site or blog so you or anyone who likes something from your blog can bookmark it quickly. Better yet, have it on every post - I tend to bookmark each post I do to several social bookmarking sites I'm a member of. Social Bookmarking sites may not bring in much traffic but it will provide backlinks to your site, which the Search Engines take into account when listing your site. Some of the more popular Social Bookmarks are Delicious.com, StumbleUpon, Digg.com and Reddit.com.

2. Feeds
If you don't have or don't know if you have RSS feeds on your blog, use Feedburner.com. You can submit your feeds to directories or better yet, Twitter.

3. Twitter.com
Have your blog posts automatically show up in your Twitter updates by using Twitterfeeds.com. This is where you would need your rss feeds - be it feedburner or local to your blog. How to use Twitter to promote your stuff? Everyday, "follow" people who have similar interests as you or who you think would be interested in your blog and they will return the favor and follow you, too. Whatever you post on your blog, they will receive the updates without you having to log in Twitter. Follow 20 to 30 people a day and by the end of the month, you should have a few hundred new audience or contacts.

4. Ads
Either have text ads, banner ads or blog about products you'll get a commission out of. Unless you'll be selling your own stuff, this is the way to go about making money with your blogs. I just discovered another addition to making money with blogs - I posted about it in my blog and you can read it here.

5. Community
MyBlogLog.com is an example of a blog community any blogger can join to share their blogs with others. Even if you're not into socializing or don't have time for it, I noticed that you do have to get involve in some kind of community to get in touch with other bloggers - whether to get more tips or just to make it known that you're around.

Another good blog community to get into is Blogexplosion.com. They have battle of the blogs where you duel with another blogger's blog. People will view your site, get credits for voting and if your blog wins, you get double the credits you used to sign up for the battle - more credits mean more exposure for your blog. Interesting and a bit of fun for bloggers. I did this awhile back with my old blog and it was one that became rather popular, plus I got to know a lot of bloggers who put me in their blogrolls.

Other communities to socialize in are Facebook, MySpace, forums or message boards. Forums for internet marketing I recommend are the Warrior Forum and Digital Point.

There are so many other ways to bring in traffic to your blogs but that's a whole other list. :)
