4 Tips to Get Your Finances in Order - By: Sheila Jonstone

Are you looking to save some money in these tough financial times? This article will show you how you can save some of your hard earned money.

Get Those Credit Cards in Order

That's right, you don't need another new credit card! Like most people you probably already have more than enough. Don't sign up for any new ones no matter how tempting the offer may be. You need to start taking care of the credit cards that you already have and pay them down. Pay off whatever you charge on the card at the end of the month. If you manage to bring a card's balance down to zero, think about cutting it up. If you don't have any cards you won't be able to use them and put yourself in debt. Stick to cash instead. It's a great way to force you to only spend the money that you do have. It's an old school technique and it works great.

Reduce Your Interest

When paying down your debts, try to add a little bit more to each monthly payment. Just adding an extra $50 can make a huge difference in the amount of interest that you'll end up paying over time. By doing this you'll pay off the amount quicker than if you were to just stick to the minimum.

Stop Buying Stuff You Don't Need

Pretty logical right? So many people don't follow this basic rule. If you're thinking about a big purchase such as a new TV or car, remember that you probably don't need it.

Cut Back on Meals Out

Buying all of your meals in restaurants can suck your wallet dry pretty quick. Sure it can be nice to go out for a meal with friends every so often, just don't do it every single night of the week. Restaurant food is hugely marked up. Cooking your own meals and packing your own lunches can save you hundreds of dollars every single month. Take some of that money you'll save and invest in some good cookbooks.

These tips can really add up and save you some huge money in the long run. Best of luck to you!
