4 Creative and Cheap Wedding Ideas - By: Susan A. Shapiro

Your wedding just might be one of the most important events of your life. If you aren't careful, you can end up spending far too much on everything just to get it out of the way. With so many things to do, it is hard to take the time to access your creativity to find something appropriate, tasteful and affordable. Here are some suggestions to help with this process.

Make your invitations - There are a number of approaches to this. You could purchase blank invitations and personalize them with the wedding details by hand. Utilizing your computer to print them is another cost effective method. There is even software that can help.
The Dress - Borrow someone's dress. There are many wedding dresses out there that were used once and now hang in a closet. Ask your friends, family member, and neighbors. You'll be surprised what you might find.

If you can, make your own dress. Perhaps you know someone who has a knack for sewing. Decide upon a pattern and a price, and go from there.
Check second hand stores, consignment shops or websites like BravoBride that sell used wedding dresses. Many brides will sell their barely used wedding gown after the big day. Use this to your advantage and you can save hundreds even thousands of dollars.

Wedding Venues - Instead of spending a small fortune on a spot for the wedding, consider an outdoor space, such as a park, a beach, or a friend's backyard. These are all beautiful and creative solutions that may be cheaper than any hall or church you could book. Even after all is rented and paid for, you'd be surprised just how much less expensive this can be.

The Cake - Though it sounds silly, you can make your own cake or enlist a family member or friend to do it. A cake can be a lavish or simple as you choose. Making your own cake enables you the freedom to have exactly what you want, exactly the way you want it. And, you might have some fun in the process. Wedding cupcakes are another popular and price conscious option. Cupcakes are a fun and hip way to show your originality and sense of humor. Consider displaying them on a tiered display and, voila! Cheap doesn't necessary mean stingy, nor does it mean tasteless. There are many ways to be frugal and creative when planning your wedding. All you need is a bit of imagination, a sense of patience and determination, and some fabulous friends and family members to help. The possibilities are endless. Good luck!
