33 Weeks Pregnant

By this time, you have gone through over half of the period of your pregnancy. The growth of your baby is underway and both you and your baby are now aware of each other presence. He observes whatever you do and listen whatever you speak, and similarly, you feel the movements made by him in the uterus such as scratching, kicking, stretching etc. You can massage your abdomen in order to provide comfort to your baby.

At this stage of pregnancy, the major emphasis is now on the growth of the baby and his organs as most of the organs of his body are developed by now with an exception of lungs and immune system, which are still developing and may developed fully by the last few weeks. Your baby is not yet fully prepared to face the coarseness of the external world and he needs to strengthen his bones along with other body organs to get ready for this world.

Although, your baby is still small, delicate and thin, he has now got the proper shape like a normal baby. Due to the fats build ups, his skin has a paler complexion now. Fats help to shape the proper structure of your baby’s body. You can still feel movements from your baby, although the space has limited for him in the uterus. He changes his position in response to your movements. If you touch your abdomen with a slight pressure, you may outline the shape of your baby.

The soft, fluffy lanugo continues to disappear and the hairs on the head growing thick. The body of your baby is still covered with vernix that makes it skin looks shiny and moist. Taste buds are developed and gums are more in proportion now.
