When you have a new house or you want to revamp your old one, one of the things you should get rid of would be curtains. Curtains are so last year and no one really uses them now. The new thing that people have replaced the curtains for are window shades.

Window blinds compared with curtains are really easier to clean. Unlike before when you need to send the curtains to the dry cleaner of you have to wash it on your own, these blinds are fairly simple to clean. Blinds are normally dust resistant and are less prone to dirt unlike cloths. When you wash it, you can simply uninstall it; wash it with soap and water. If it is not that dirty or if you clean it on a daily basis, you can simply damp it with cloth. Not only were you able to save on dry cleaning, you were also able to save a lot of time and effort.

However, there are many things to consider before you buy roller shades. What are these? Here is a list:

1. Price
The first thing a person will ask would be the price. Of course there would really be good designs for your home but then when you ask for the price, it is over your budget. To make up for this, why not look for discounted blinds? You can find these during sale season. Another option would be if you are buying wood blinds, buy the ones that are made of fake wood. It looks exactly the same and functions well too for a fraction of a cost.

2. Size
The next thing that you should keep in mind is the measurement of your window. If you do not know the size of it, it is better to measure it first before you go and purchase one. In this way, you will not buy something that is too short or too narrow for your windows. When you are also buying window shades, it would be better to buy those that are an inch longer and wider than your window's size. In this way, you will be able to simply roll up the bottom part of your slides.

3. Design
Another thing that you should consider would be the style. There are different types of blinds actually from vertical, horizontal, bamboo, patio, remote, etc. Once you have found the perfect one for your needs, you need to look for a design that will compliment your house. Is your house modern or vintage? Does your house look like it needs a pop of color or a neutral tone? Make sure that the blinds will not clash with your house's theme or color. For more successful purchase, try to bring a swatch of the color paint or wallpaper of your house or the room.

Once you have considered these three things, you can now buy the perfect window shades for your room or your house. Another great tip for those who are in a budget would be concentrating more on the rooms in your house that needs more privacy like your room or your bathroom. Once you have saved up, you can then buy for the other rooms as well.
