2012 Honda Civic Si: An affordable sedan with upgraded features - By: Florentyna Garnis

The Honda Civic variants come loaded with latest automobile feature and an elegant exterior, and the 2012 Honda Civic Si is no exception. The sedan of the Honda civic family is a spacious alternative to the popular Civic Coupe. With an aerodynamic design, luxurious interior, superb performance and a bevy of advanced technology, there are multiple reasons to go for a Honda Civic Si sedan.

Exterior
The few cosmetic changes have given the ninth generation Civic Si a shape that brags of a lower coefficient drag. 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler and an exclusive badging are other welcome additions to the exterior of the four-door 2012 Honda Civic Si.

Interior
The interior is draped in black fabric with the Civic Si logo entrenched on the seats, floor mats and the steering wheel. A 7-speaker audio system is a standard feature in the Civic Si Sedan. Satellite-linked navigation system is optional. The intelligent multi-information display (i-MID) is a unique feature of the new generation Si. Located at the center of the instrument panel it shows audio system and fuel consumption information. In the power monitor mode, the i-MID displays the engine output as a percentage of the maximum horsepower. In addition, the i-MID supports hands free communication through Bluetooth handsets and audio units.

Performance
The improved aerodynamic design and the lighter chassis have given a significant boost to the performance of the new generation Honda Civic Si sedan. The 2.4-liter, 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC engine can generate 201 horsepower of maximum output and up to 170 lb-ft of torque. Compared with the earlier generation Si engine, the new generation powertrain produces almost 22 percent more torque. The 6-speed manual gearbox offers a smooth ride regardless of the road condition. When it comes to fuel economy, the 2012 Civic Si will not disappoint with 22mpg mileage on city roads and 31mpg on highways. In just 6.4 seconds, the sedan can breach the 60mph speed limit.

Safety
Just like the other members of the Honda Civic family, Si is loaded with the standard safety components. The anti-lock disc brakes with Electronic Brake Distribution keep the sedan on track when the car is abruptly brought to halt. The built-in Tire Pressure Monitoring system constantly checks the tire’s pressure and promptly alerts the drivers when the pressure declines. Vehicle Stability Assist and airbags are other prominent safety features of the sedan.

Pricing
The price of 2012 Honda Civic Si starts from $22,405.
