10 tips to writing Articles. - By: Andrew Davies

Many people across the world write and publish articles to article directories everyday. Everyone who publishes an article does so for different reasons. They may publish an article just for the love of getting their name in print, online, to give advice, or to promote something that they have a passion for. Anyone can write an article and nowadays many people are using this medium for the reasons mentioned previously. However, many people might write articles but they might not get published and thus they stop writing.

To help write articles, you need to ensure that you follow some important rules. Below you’ll find 10 tips that I employ when I am writing articles:

1. Always comply with the submission guidelines for the article directory that you are submitting your articles to. To save time and disappointment, I seriously suggest to read the terms and conditions of submitting your articles to make sure that they are what the article directory is wanting.

2. Don’t submit articles to directories that specialize in certain things. For example, don’t submit an article about football to a directory that publishes articles about car mechanics.

3. Have a definite beginning, middle and end.

4. Don’t waffle for the sake of filling the page.

5. Provide information to the reader that you would want to know.

6. Be clear and concise and stick to the point. ie don’t go off on a tangent and stick to what the subject is about.

7. Provide a source of reference to back up your article.

8. Generate an interest with your reader and the article directory.

9. Don’t write a sales pitch but, if you are promoting something, give advice both positive and if at all negative and show evidence and good suggestion why you would recommend something over something else.

10. Don’t write the latest edition of ‘War and Peace’. Articles are not meant to be novels but are used to help provide sources of good information to the reader.

Whatever your reasons are to writing and submitting articles, expect it to take time and not all directories will approve of your writing or style. Once you have found a directory that publishes what you write, then stick with them to continue publishing your latest releases so to speak. Over time, it is interesting to read what you wrote many months ago and to see if there are similar conversations stemming from your first article. Overall, enjoy what you are writing about and keep abreast of what is happening in your chosen writing field.
