Marriage is a great thing - on the one hand you have an entire life ahead of you to be spent with your loved one - on the other, marriage means commitments and an entire load of responsibilities. It means you can no longer have all the fun that being a bachelorette offers. And that is precisely why people who are about to get married have hen nights and hen weekends.

If you are new to the term, do not worry - you should have understood it by now. A hen night is better known as bachelorette party in the United States of America. It is something that most modern women want to have before they say "I do". So if your friend is about to be married and you and other girl friends of hers what to organize a fun party for her, a hen weekend would be the ideal thing. Here are some things to remember before you set the ball rolling on a fun hen weekend!

• The first thing that occurs to a woman is "dressing up"! It is not a social gathering but a party meant just for women. You can dress up the way you wish and look stunning!

• As far as the outfit is concerned, to add to the occasion, you can have a certain theme and all the girls could turn up with outfits related to the theme.

• You guys can decide on the theme - it would be more like a costume party, but a lot better than the usual and more meaningful for this is perhaps the last party that the bride-to-be would appear as a bachelorette!

• On a hen weekend, most women also arrange for male exotic dancers to perform for them. It is becoming increasingly common and it would not hurt much to have a little fun before the big day comes!

• You can also have strippers on the night if you are up to some real naughty stuff!

• You can also wear Hen weekend T-Shirts on the occasion. Since this is going to be a weekend and not just a night, you will have a lot of things to do. You can arrange for activities planned on the two days and celebrate.

• The next obvious thing to arrange for is good food. This weekend would be unforgettable for two reasons - either great food or hopeless food - and you sure want it to be the former! Nothing beats good food, especially when you are ravenous after so much fun!

• The activities could include whatever you all enjoy doing together. It could be cooking, dressing up or pretty much anything that would be fun.

• If you do not want to dress up in funky costumes and T-shirts, a simple pajama party would be it!

• You can also take things that you would normally so for a sleepover night!
