10 Top dog Training Tips - By: SamPup Moore

It's always likely to take time and patience to train a pup. A few, certainly, will be trained earlier than the rest, just like young people in school. Therefore, if YOU keep to the rules you will get there in the end! Only bear in mind that it is actually us that are the unpredictable ones - your puppy is just as it says on the can - a dog!

1. Don't be boring. Keep it short, interesting and entertaining. Pups have short concentration spans whilst they are immature; so little and often are the best policies.

2. Take advantage of feeding time - food is a significant training tool. He will be extremely focussed if he considers his food will ensue, so make him sit, come, heel - whatsoever. You'll be amazed how well-trained he is!

3. Let him burn off his energy before training so that he can concentrate more on you.

4. Be reasonable - he's a dog not a human. Take it a stage at a time, making sure he truly understands prior to continuing. Carry on repeating the training as well or he will not remember, just as you can't bring to mind half the information you learned at school!

5. Constantly apply the identical expressions of command or else he will get exceedingly perplexed. Make certain all the family utilize them too. Post them on the wall so you all use exactly the same ones!

6. Make certain your puppy comes totally up to you before you offer him a treat - in no way stretch out.

7. Do not give your pup a command if he is not listening and you understand he won't obey. If you permit your dog to flout a order when he is young, you are actually saying that it is ok to discount you.

8. If the exercise is going badly or you are getting annoyed then simply end and consider what you are doing. It is you that's the problem not the pup!

9. No matter how wound up you are every time wrap up with praise, reward and fun. Persuade him to do anything you understand he can do - just sit or lie down, and then offer him plenty of fuss. By doing this he will look ahead to the next training session - not dread it!

10. If you could do with support - ask for it! There is tons of help out there - books, internet, classes, schools - so don't be shy!
