10 BIGGEST BUSINESS MISTAKES MADE BY HEALTH PROFESSIONALS – Part 2 - By: markeey

UNPROFESSIONAL DRESSING
You may already be on top of this one. But it’s a mistake I’ve seen so often, that I must address it. I’ve seen practitioners work bare feet. And hey, if that’s the life and practice you want, I’m not one to rain on your parade. The great thing about having your own practice is that it’s yours. You get to make up the rules and create whatever environment you want. But for marketing and business – you have to realize that people do judge books and people by their cover. Your image says a lot to people. Whether they intend to judge you on that basis or not.
Simple Tips for Stylish Professionalism:

· Press your clothes. Don’t wear wrinkled shirts, pants or skirts
· Wear dress shoes
· Men, wearing a tie will inspire more confidence and trust in people. Some of you may not want to wear one, but I’m putting it out there. If you do go to any promotional events, like tradeshows, seminars or TV appearances, make sure you wear a tie though.
· Be clean shaven
· And just care about your appearance. Being attentive to details of your own appearance puts your patients’ at ease, because they sense that you take care of yourself well, so you can care for them too.
· Wear nice, professional shirts. Avoid flashy or Hawaiian shirts.
· Women, avoid being overly stylish, as it can intimidating
· Women, avoid showing cleavage. I know many of you know this already, but I’ve seen massage therapists show a little more than necessary.

NOT SYSTEMIZING YOUR CLINIC
I can’t tell you how much energy and time you are wasting if you haven’t put systems in place for everything you do in your clinic. The way you schedule, answer the phones, greet patients, to how you construct your ads, or send out promotional material should all be systemized.
You likely do have some systems already in place, even if you don’t mean to have them in. And if you’re just running a one person show and aren’t ever planning to get bigger, you can get away with sloppy systems. But there will come a point if you follow the BOOMING PRACTICE methods that you’ll get so busy that you’ll have to hire a receptionist. Or perhaps you want to grow into a multi-practititioner clinic, or maybe you’re already there. In which case, you have to systemize as much as you can.
When you have good systems, policies and procedures in place, then more time can be devoted to caring for your patients rather than stumbling over how to best do things.
The key to business ease and growth is to have systems carry the weight of the extra things to do when a practice gets busier.
If you have a multi-disciplinary or multi-practitioner clinic. If you have a receptionist, or are looking at hiring other people or even just one person. Then you need to get the BOOMING PRACTICE BUSINESS MASTERY TOOL KIT. It will save you untold hours of time, thousands of dollars in legal fees and potential mistakes and get your practice systemized in no time.
