When Designing a Brochure - By: Justin Davis

Basically, brochures serve a lot of purposes. They can be used for marketing, during special occasions, or in general businesses. Here are quick things to remember when designing a brochure.

The first thing you need to think of is the layout. This will be depending on the pieces of information that you will be placing in your brochure. You can use either a bi fold layout where the material is folded into two and you can also use a portrait layout where the fold is in the horizontal plane or landscape where the fold is in the vertical plane. There are four panels or sides where the information is placed.

Then there is the more popular trifold wherein there are two folds in the vertical plane. This is the most common layout for brochures. The information is distributed into six panels or sides.

This is common to hotels. This is very handy because when unfolded, it is just about eight inches and becomes three inches when unfolded. Another type which three folds line in the vertical field and is the least common is the tetrafold.

When the trifold is not enough for the information needed to be conveyed, people opt for this kind of layout. You can gain a lot of space with this layout because two panels are added. You must think of your brochure concept that will be consistent or appropriate with the product that you are trying to present.

When designing a brochure, consentrate on the quality of the brochure that is going to be produced. There are many concept ideas. Be creative. For instance, if you are doing it for a housing project, you can have a pencil sketched windows, for a computer hardware, you can probably have a circuit of network to represent it.

It has to evoke an air of professionalism in order for clients to spend time going over its contents. It has to satisfy the purpose of convincing clients to have a business relationship with you. Having a great brochure can really make it worth remembering.

Brochures are intended to let potential clients know about you and your company even before they get an opportunity to meet you face to face. They actually serve as a handy marketing agent in your behalf. They will bring about a great impact for your products and services which would result in an increase in customers as time passes. They can be considered as one of the most powerful marketing tools in businesses.
