As a job applicant, you are already making an impression once you enter the office doors. Those employees in the lobby receiving your resume are not necessarily the staff that would interview you but they can always take down notes once they see that you seem unprepared for the job.

Loud nail polish color
You can just tidy your fingernails and skip on the nail polish if you are not sure which will put off interviewers. Just trim your nails and ensure that they are clean. Imagine if the manager initiates a handshake, and you have forgotten to clean your nails. It would be mean to decline the offer, especially that it is already your future-superior initiating the gesture.

Excessive accessories
Not everyone appreciates men wearing earrings, include to the list hiring personnel. It is okay to wear a ring, take that, a ring, not two rings on each finger. Dangling earrings should also be avoided. The less conspicuous, the better.

Worn-out, peep-toe or backless shoes
Okay, so we need not justify why wearing sandals is a big no during interviews. You are not going to the market, after all. You are about to try your luck in the corporate world, so look the part.

You can for the meantime borrow shoes from a friend. Employers would not ask, anyway, if you own your shoes or not. But you are certainly putting your application in jeopardy if you will insist on going to the office with worn-out shoes.

Skimpy outfits
This is not the right time to expose your legs. Forget about your barely-there skirts and wear instead those that are not higher than three inches above the knee. Wear stockings, even during summer, that are of neutral colors. Use your shoe color as your reference. And skip on those net pantyhose. Keep them for other occasions, not this time when you need to be decent.

Imagine reaching for your pen which accidentally dropped on the floor, but since your skirt leaves a little to the imagination, you then attract unnecessary attention.

Anything leather
Leather jackets, pants, or anything leather. They look good for a casual wear. The thing is that you are not supposed to put on those kind of outfits. Let us just say that leather attires are inappropriate for professional meetings, which includes your interview.

The hiring staff pays attention to the clothes you are wearing because more often than not, clients also do.

Printed handbags and colorful suitcases
When it comes to bags, it is always safe to go for neutral hues. Your goal is not to catch attention from the attire or accessories that you are wearing. Your objective is to perform well during the interview, and from there be remembered.

Your outfit says a lot about your work aptitude and professionalism. This matters to a company, because once you are already working for a certain organization, your attire does not only speak about your personality. It also reflects the company.
