Pet Euthanasia: How to Deal with a Heartbreaking Situation - By: Sandy Hardrews

When the choice arose for me to spend $4,000 on a procedure to save my favorite pet's life last Christmas, I did it without even thinking about my options. The damage to his stomach was dire, but, even so, I was emphatic he would be well again, after all, he was a mere 3 years old.

All too soon, though, when he would go outside to use the bathroom, I found that there was blood. We undertook another battery of tests as recommended by our veterinarian, who is a good friend, but it wasn't long before, Carl wasn't able to get up anymore. He was apt to lift up his head to gaze at me with his beautiful brown eyes, but a seizure in his spin had caused paralysis, and he wasn't able to do any other thing independently.

This caused me great woe. I became obsessed with the idea of wheelchairs for quads despite the fact that his health worsened each day he stayed in hospice. Just a miracle, not a special wheelchair, could bestow him the quality of life he deserved, and I could not forget that. But I still wished he could stay forever.

I was gloomy, but not debilitated. It gave me the willpower to make the right choice after I was aware of every one of my options.

If you were not worrying about your pet, you wouldn't be researching this topic and concerned about making the correct choice. However, where do you get started?

Even though everyone looks at death in their own way, but sometimes it's important to obtain a guide to get your there comfortably Every decision defines where your path leads you, but, knowing what results your decisions will have will reduce the disquiet and the hurt.

A good friend shared a wonderful book just before I lost Carl - Dr. Pat Bradley's book, More Than a Pet. All the necessary information for making the best decision was included. I strongly recommend reading this book or a similar one so you, too, are able to make a choice that reflects your values.
