Part II-- In Search of Love in the Philippines, Beware of Filipino Women who Pose as Legitimate Pen Pals but are Professional Con Artists instead - By: Colbert Bellevue

To refresh your memory, getting money by deceptive practices online has become a source of income for millions of girls and women in many parts of the world. Some con artists consider bilking money out of men as a job from which to pay for their next vacation, feed their families, and pay their kids' college tuition, and more.

Here is a Conversation between the Con Artist and one of her male Pen Pals. The conversion goes like this:

"Hi, honey! How are you?"

"Fine, thanks, and you?"

"Good. Ah, it could be better, though."

"You don't sound happy. Am I right?"

"Hmm. I think you are."

"What's the problem, sweetie?"

"It's my mother; it's not me, but I'm scared."

"Is there a problem?"

"Yes, but I don't want to discuss this with you."

"Sweetie, you can talk to me about anything."

"You see, this morning my mother was rushed to the hospital due to a heart attack."

"I am sorry to hear that."

"My problem is that my dad has lost his job and I don't know what to do right now."

"Is there something I can do to help?"

"I don't know. The hospital said that she will stay in the (ICU) intensive care unit for a week, and they said someone would have to be responsible for the hospital stay. That's why I am so shaky and upset right now."

"Here's what you do, sweetie. Find out what the hospital bills are and let me know."

"Yeah, but even though I need help, but I really don't want you be involved with this thing. Since you offered your help, then I'll tell you what it is when the hospital let me know about that bill."

"OK darling. Hope you mother feel better and you should take care of yourself. Don't worry too much about it."

"Thanks honey. You make me feel a little better now. I will chat with you soon. Thanks again for everything. Talk to you soon!"

Three Days Later

Three days later, the con artist returned to the Internet Café to continue her online conversation with her male pen pals. Because of lack of space, I have omitted this conversation here. Nonetheless, she told her male pen pal that her mother is not doing well at all at the hospital. She is near death.

Seven Days Later

On the seventh day of her mother's hospitalization, the con artist returned to the internet café to report to her male pen pals what she learned from the hospital respective to her mother's health and the hospital bills.

Again, due to space constraints, I have omitted a part of this conversation. She used the same ruse to bilk money out of her neophyte male pen pals by reporting the cost of five days hospital's stay, which is for US$4,000. The cost of the medication is US$1,000. You do the math. She has indirectly asked US$13,000 to each man. She would get US$65,000 from the five men in a matter of a week or so.

I am sure you realize that, in essence, the con artist did not ask her male pen pals for money directly. In fact, she made believe that she did not want them to be involved in that kind of family affair. Wouldn't you agree that was a well-executed trap that the con artist has fabricated?

These foreign nationals paid a heavy price for not being aware of how con artists can easily defraud gullible men online. If you are thinking approaching a Filipino woman for marriage, protect yourself. Forewarned is forearmed. Empower yourself with relevant knowledge and you will not be taken by any con artists, no matter how hard they try.
